Washington, D.C.—Congressman Correa addressed his colleagues on the House Floor as he managed two bills meant to combat waste, fraud, and abuse at the Department of Homeland Security.

The two bills both provide additional oversight of the Department of Homeland Security’s operations to safe guard taxpayer dollars while ensuring the Department of Homeland Security has the resources necessary to keep our nation safe.

The Two bills are:

H.R. 1282 establishes an Acquisition Review Boards in the Department of Homeland Security. This legislation ensures that acquisitions valued in excess of $300 million receive ongoing scrutiny and greater acquisition oversight before programs fail to meet important cost and schedule milestones.

H.R. 2131 directs the Chief Human Capital Officer of the Department of Homeland Security to improve consistency regarding discipline and adverse actions in the Department’s workforce. This legislation ensures fairness and transparency, and requires each component to establish a matrix of offenses and penalties to be shared with the workforce.
